Cossey An employee of Country Pride Inc., formerly J-M Farms, was electrocuted at approximately 4 a.m., on Monday morning, Nov. 28, according to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department. The deputies received a call at 4 a.m., to send an ambulance to the farm of James Cotton on the Old Jerusalem Road east of Many. Deputies and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a Country Pride employee, Morris G. Cossey, 37, of Many, had been electrocuted. Upon investigation, deputies discovered that Cossey was apparently backing up a feed truck to some chicken feeders in order to unload some feed when the tragedy occurred. Deputies believed that as Cossey swung the boom around, it came in contact with electric power lines, electrocuting him instantly. Members of the Many Volunteer Fire Dept. were summoned to the scene by Cotton, when he discovered the tragedy. The tires on the feed truck had burst into flames. Answering the call at 4:05 a.m., were Chief Reo Wright, Assistant Chief Jimmy Dees, Ted DeLacerda, William Self, Johnny Byles, and Bryan Palmer. Sabine Parish Coroner, Dr. W. W. Poimboeuf of Pleasant Hill, ruled death by electrocution. Cossey, who was divorced, is the father of three sons. His mother resides in Arkansas. He had been an employee of Country Pride for about a month and a half.
