All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Eddie Lee Castie Eddie Lee Castie, 18, of Zwolle, was crushed to death in Zwolle, Saturday, Oct. 28, at about 2:30 p.m. According to Sabine Parish Sheriff George Cook, Zwolle Marshal Quinton Brandon notified Deputy Floyd Terrell of the accident. Terrell notified Dr. W. W. Poimboeuf, Sabine Parish Coroner, who instructed them to take the body to the funeral home. Witnesses to the accident were Larry, Tommy, and Charles West, Lester Parrie, and Eddie Lee's brother, Charles Castie. The witnesses told Marshal Brandon the car had been jacked up with a bumper jack that slipped as Eddie Castie was changing a drive shaft on the car, and it crushed him underneath. The further stated that they had to get another jack to get the car up, and get Castie from under it. Castie had been crushed, and internal injuries caused his death, according to Dr. Poimboeuf. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., in the Memorial Baptist Church of Zwolle, with the Rev. Walker R. Ledford officiating. Burial was in the Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Castie of Zwolle; six brothers, Glen Parrie of the U. S. Navy, Albert Castie of Shreveport, Jerry Castie of Zwolle, Jimmy Castie of the U. S. Marines, Charlie, and Jackie Castie, both of Zwolle; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Susie Castie of Zwolle; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Artie Downs of Zwolle. Pallbearers were his brothers.
