The Rev. Don Windham officiated. Burial, with military honors, was at Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Chesser, a self employed plumber, died Wednesday, June 19, 1984, at Doctors Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Zwolle, La., and had been a resident of Shreveport all of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Mr. Chesser served in the U. S. Marine Corp during World War II, and was a member of the V. F. W. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lynne Chesser; and a son, Mr. Gene Chesser Jr. of Shreveport; four daughters, Mrs. Winnie Self of Shreveport, Mrs. Lyndia Morton of Fort Smith, Ark., Mrs. Annette Holman, and Ms. Cindy Chesser of Shreveport; a sister, Mrs. Cleola Lorenz of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Mr. Charles Chesser of Waskom, Texas, Mr. Douglas Chesser of Shreveport; nine grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Alford, James Hudson, Dan Denton, Marvin Blankenship, Billy Riley, Ed Zeigler.
