The Rev. D. R. Bolton officiated. Burial was in Sardis Cemetery near Converse. Mr. Cates died Tuesday, July 24, at the Sabine Medical Center in Many, after a long illness. He was a farmer and school bus driver. He was born in Converse, and resided in Noble since 1943. Mr. Cates was preceded in death by his widow, Mrs. Helen Cates; four children; and two adult grandsons. He is survived by two sons, Lee C. Autrey of Houston, Tex., and Raleigh Cates of Ada, Okla.; three daughters, Eloise Cates Goldstein of Shreveport, Clydie C. Moritz of Converse, and Susie C. Repasky of Bridge City, Tex.; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
