All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Elva Irene Cates Services for Mrs. Elva Irene Cates, 90, of Pleasant Hill, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, in Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield. The Rev. W. C. Campbell, and the Rev. Mel Zerger officiated. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery near Converse. Mrs. Cates died Saturday morning, Aug. 15, in North Sabine Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill, following a lengthy illness. She was a former lifelong resident of Converse, and was a member of the Converse Fellowship Baptist Church, and the Retired Teacher's Assoc. Survivors include her four sons, W. Barlow Cates of Noble, Billy Hugh Cates of Shreveport, Will Allen Cates of New Orleans, George Cates of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one brother, Jan Barlow of Jackson, Miss.; ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
