Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Oct. 16, at First United Methodist Church in Zwolle, with interment following at Noble Cemetery. The Rev. Bonita Davis officiated. In January, 1963, he moved to Norfolk, Va. He had a career in the military, in the U.S. Navy for 25 years. He was employed with McFarland-Robertson Music Company for many years, and later with Clopay Mfg. Co. He married Marilyn Edwards June 27, 1949. He was active in the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada, a member of the Ada Lodge #119 AF and AM, and a member of the Ada Lodge #1640 BPOE. He served in the military from 1942 until 1967. Survivors include his widow, Marilyn Cates of the home; two daughters, Barbara Ann Martin of Anadarko, Okla., and Susan Osborn of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Clydie Moritz of Shreveport, Sue Rapasky of Bridge City, Texas, and Lee Autrey of Sugarland Texas; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
