The man, David Sanders Cotton, was working for Red Simpson Inc., electrical contractor, when he contacted a live wire. The accident occurred as Mr. Cotton was fastening his safety belt prior to starting to work on a 2400 volt distribution line. Mr. Cotton, a native of Trout, was a graduate of Many High School, and attended Northwestern State College. Survivors include wife, Shirley Cotton of Zwolle; two sons, David Jr., and Stoney Dell Cotton of Zwolle; two daughters, Barbara Ann, and Beverly Lynn Cotton, both of Zwolle; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burl Cotton of Many; one brother, Grady Burl Cotton of Many; grandmothers, Mrs. Ben Cotton of Jena, and Mrs. Olla Reasons of Jonesville. Mr. Cotton was president of the Zwolle Jaycees. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, send donations to the David Cotton Fund, in care of Mr. Jack Jordan, Peoples State Bank of Zwolle. Funeral services were held in the Fisher Baptist Church, Tuesday, June 11, with the Rev. Earl Marr, the Rev. Shelton Barrman, and the Rev. R. P. Butler officiating. Interment was in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery near Jena, La., with graveside services under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were David Garcie, Preston Greer, I. D. Bostian, Ben Rivers, Lawrence Brandon, and J. C. Ferguson Jr.
