All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Sr. Mary Clotilde Word has been received from Emmitsburg, Maryland, of the death on May 22, of Sr. Mary Clotilde nee Margaret Lucille Vandegaer, of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. She was born in Many, Louisiana on June 7, 1886, the daughter of the late Leo Vandegaer and Virginia Abington. Her father was for many years, postmaster of Many, and owner of the local newspaper, The Sabine Banner. She entered the Daughters of Charity at New Orleans, at the age of 19 years, and celebrated her 75th Anniversary as a Nun in 1981. Funeral Mass was celebrated May 24, in the Convent Chapel, and burial was in the cemetery of Daughters of Charity at Emmitsburg, Maryland. She is survived by one niece; two nephews, and a host of cousins.
