Colton, 48, of Green Acres subdivision near Ferriday, died suddenly at his home, March 30, of an apparent attack. He was a resident of Ferriday for over 20 years, and was a driller for the Natchez Drilling Co. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Converse, and a veteran of World War II. Funeral services were held March 31, in the chapel of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday, with the Rev. Mac Walter officiating. Interment was at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary M. Colton; one son, Buran Elvin Colton; one daughter, Miss Cheryl Colton, all of Ferriday; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Van B. Colton of Converse; two brothers, Gerald R. Colton of Ruston, and Marlin L. Colton of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Vivian Craig of Converse. The pallbearers will be Arthur Marlette, Jimmy Marlette, Garfield Braswell, Larry Regan, Ed Regan, and Brady Wilson.
