Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13 at St. Ann Catholic Church with interment following at St. Ann Cemetery. Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 12. Father Kenneth Williams officiated. Survivors include four daughters, Mary L. Cavalier of New Orleans, Lorita Childress of Many, Rose "Ruthie" Valentine of Zwolle and Erma Lee Watson of Converse; one son, Jimmie E. Ferguson of Converse; five sisters, Mary Violet Picard of Hemphill, Texas, O'Leta Streetman of Coushatta, Eula Mae Newman of Philadelphia, Pa. and Zula Mae Davis and Rene Mae Manshack, both of Hemphill, Texas; two brothers, Mayo Manshack and George Manshack, Jr., both of Converse; 13 grandchildren; Diane Cavalier, Debbie Marcel, Carl J. Cavalier, Jr., Gregory S. Cavalier and Charles R. Cavalier, all of New Orleans; Erin W. Parrie Jr., Dustin S. Parrie, Amber L. Parrie, Chad M. Carmadelle, Sr., Shawn A. Carmadelle, Freddie W. Carmadelle, Shantel "Sissy" Carmadelle and Adrian J. Carmadelle, all of Sabine Parish; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Childress; one daughter Yvone Children; and one grandson, Terry Parrie.
