It was the first tragic death in Sabine Parish in 1972. He was identified as Kit Coleman, in his 30's, and his house was at 309 Washington. His wife escaped without injury. The house was completely destroyed by the fire. The fire was discovered at 7 a.m., by a neighbor, Isabell Barrett. The fire apparently started in a bedroom, and the cause is unknown. Members of the Many Volunteer Fire Department answering the early morning alarm were W. R. Miller, Bill Bugg, Wayne, and Williams Self, Ronald Kingery, Tommy Koss, and Jimmy Dees. The firemen were called to the house two other times during the day Saturday, as the flames started again. The first call was at 4:15 p.m., and again and 5:30 p.m.
