  Funeral services for Mary J. Coen, 75, were held May 22, 1996,
at 1 p.m., at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel in Shreveport.
Officiating was Dr. Rocky Maddox, pastor of Rose Park Baptist
Church. Interment was at Forest Park.

  Mrs. Coen died Monday, May 20, at her residence. She was born in
Minden, and had resided in Greenwood since 1963. Mrs. Coen was a
homemaker, and a member of Rose Park Baptist Church.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Coen Jr.;
brother, Charles McDearmont; and grandson, Alvin Richard Smith
Jr.

  Survivors are two sons, Franklin Ray Smith of Sulphur, and Alvin
Richard Smith of Greenwood; four sisters, Katie Bain, Ruth Bower,
both of Shreveport, Valeria Mitchell of Pascagoula, Miss., and
Virginia Mayeau of Shreveport; five brothers, W. E. "Bill"
McDearmont, C. L. McDearmont, both of Shreveport, J. F.
McDearmont of Pleasant Hill, T. L. McDearmont of Arlington, and
Richard McDearmont of Benton; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces
and nephews.
