"Albert" Chance, 82, of Hornbeck, were Monday, Sept. 18, 1995, at 3 p.m., in the Prewitts Chapel Baptist Church in Hornbeck, with the Rev. Hoy Leach, Billy Nolen, and Huey Haymon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Beauregard-Vernon Funeral Home of Leesville. Mr. Chance died Friday, Sept. 15, in the Highland Medical Center in Shreveport. He was a native of Florien, and lived in Hornbeck most of his life. He was a retired logger, and worked as a carpenter when Fort Polk was built. He is survived by three sons, Nathaniel "A.J." Chance of Bossier City, Gene Chance of Fresno, California, and Walter Sherwood Chance of Hornbeck; five daughters, Ann Smart, Doris Knippers, Theresa Nicks, Eula Durrett, and Sharon Mason, all of Hornbeck; two brothers, LeRoy Chance of Hornbeck, and James Chance of Many; 15 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Visitation was from 2:30 p.m., Sunday, until service time Monday, in the church.
