Chance, 76, of Pineville, died Sunday, Aug. 14, in the Veterans Hospital in Alexandria. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 16, in Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edward Smith, and the Rev. Bobby Bonds officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. John A. Chance of Pineville; four sons, Frank C. Chance of Houston, Nylon E. Chance of Dry Prong, Robert E. of Jal, New Mexico, and James L. Chance of Encinitas, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Johnnie C. Halle of Houston; one brother, H. R. Chance of Hornbeck; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Joe Sanchez, Roger LaPraire, Mike Barrett, Noah Bohrer, Francis Raugean, and Joe Cohen. All of the pallbearers are members of the American Legion, George M. Simmons Jr., post no. 3. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Hatfield, Walter Guillott, Charles Wilson, and Clem Diagre.
