All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Jewel McNeely Chance (Photo) Jewel McNeely Chance was born Thursday, Sept. 12, 1912, to Henry Floyd and Effie Jeanette Ferguson McNeely in Ward 2 of Sabine Parish near the Little Flock Community. She graduated from Negreet High School in 1933. She married Ottis Lee Chance, Nov. 25, 1936, in Many. She lived in the Plainview Community for 58 years. She died on April 9, 2002, in Shreveport, after a three month illness, at the age of 89 years, six months, and 28 days. Preceding her in death were her father and mother, Henry Floyd and Effie Jeanette Ferguson McNeely; sisters, Eula Sauls, Vera Suehs, and Della Ramsey; and brothers, Floyd, John, Lester, and Henry McNeely. She leaves behind, her husband of 65 years, Buck Chance; and two daughters, Gloria Lynn Chance Leach and her husband William, and Saundra Leigh Chance McWilliams and her husband Jimmy, all of Keithville. Her three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, who love and miss their Granny, are Colleen Marie Leach McDaniel, her husband Mickey, and their three children, Elijah Russell, Olivia Fontaine, and Levi William of Keithville; William Glynn Leach, his wife Vicki, and their children, Victoria Su, and Marshall Glynn of Keithville; and Fontaine Lynn Leach Simmons, her husband Keith, and their children, William Cole, and Cassidy Lynn of Stonewall. Also surviving her are two sisters, Norma Richardson, and Lena Bond, both of Bossier City; and one brother, Leman McNeely of Many. A host of relatives, cherished friends, and wonderful neighbors, who loved and respected her, will miss her in ways that only time will tell. Pallbearers were her nephews, Bobby Chance, Ronnie Chance, Roy Dowden, Clyde McNeely, Mike Richardson, nephews, cousin, Todd McNeely. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Cabra, Jerry Corley, Carroll Ellzey, Victor Ellzey, Leo Fitzenreiter, and Robert Ed Williams. Warren Meadows, Many, La.
