Connolly Bernard Francis Connolly, 89, former president of Atlas Refining Co., died at 6:15 a.m., Thursday, July 27, in Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, following a lengthy illness. He was a resident of the Mid City Hotel. Mr. Connolly was a native of New York city, where he was born on September, 29, 1888. He had resided in Shreveport since 1935. He was a member of St. John Berchman's Co-Cathedral in Shreveport. St. John's Holy Name Society, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Corrigan Council No. 705 of New York City. Being a veteran of World War I, Mr. Connally was a member of the Lowe McFarland American Legion Post No. 14, and of the Disabled American Veterans of Shreveport. He was also a member of Alpha Chapter of International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi at New York University; a graduate of New York University, and of Fordham Law School, and was admitted to the bar in New York City. Having assisted in working out the plan of re-organization of Atlas Refining Co., he served as president of that company during the 1940's Survivors include three nieces, Miss Catherine Connolly of Flossmoor, Illinois, Mrs. Andrew F. Egan of Garden City, New York, and Mrs. Joseph P. Doherty of Great Neck, New York; and four nephews, Dr. Robert B. Connolly of Toms River, New Jersey, Dr. Donald Connolly of Linwood, New Jersey, Dr. John Connolly of West Caldwell, New York, and Phillip Connolly of New York City. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church in Many. Father Gustave Bergeron, pastor of the church, Msgr. John C. Vandegaer, pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Stonewall, and Rev. J. E. Browning, pastor of St. John Berchman's Co-Cathedral in Shreveport, officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leonard Abington, Floyd Lopez, Richard McComic, Weldon Anderson, Jim Bob Gandy, and J. E. Carmichael.
