Carpenter, ?, of Calvin, died Sunday morning, Jan. 18, in a Shreveport hospital, after a long illness. Services were at 3:30 p.m., Monday, in the Calvin Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald ?. Turner officiating, assisted by the Rev. G. R. Nolan. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery, under the direction of the Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Survivors are six sons, Alon Carpenter, Leon Carpenter, Bob Carpenter, W. E. Carpenter Jr., and Calop Carpenter, all of Calvin, and Clifford Carpenter of Hodge; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Lowe, Mrs. Ruby Carter, Mrs. ?arline Martin, all of Calvin, and Mrs. Helen Reed of Many; three sisters, Mrs. Molly Carpenter of Goldonna, Mrs. Gertrude Rudd of Dodson, and Mrs. Pearl Powell of Baton Rouge; one brother, Wise ?odges of Goldonna, 32 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
