Carpenter, 69, of Shreveport, died Sunday, August 4, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Carpenter, a native of Sabine Parish, had resided in Shreveport for 36 years. She was a member of St. John Berchmans Cathedral. A memorial mass was hosted at the Cathedral on Tuesday, August 6, at 1:30 p.m. Msgr. Earl V. Provenza officiated. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond H. Carpenter; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cherry Carpenter of Bossier City; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Bob Long of Shreveport; and daughter, Karen Carpenter, also of Shreveport. Other survivors include her granddaughter, Christine Carpenter of Bossier City; two brothers, Henry Ebarb of Zwolle, and Glyndell Ebarb of Vinton; two sisters, Verna E. Matthews of Weatherford, Okla., and Thelma Paddie of Longview, Tex., and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be sent to St. John Berchmans Cathedral Renovation und; Breast Cancer Research at the LSUMC Cancer Research Dept. of Hematology-Oncology, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
