All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Alton Louis Curtis (Photo) Funeral services for Alton Louis Curtis of Shreveport, were held at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 18, at 2:30 p.m., with Dr. Lynn Jones of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Forest Park Cemetery. Mr. Curtis died in Baton Rouge on Sunday, September 16, following a brief illness. He was 81. Born in Negreet, Mr. Curtis was a graduate of Negreet High School He had served as Chief Deputy Clerk in the Sabine Parish Clerk of Court's Office, before moving to Shreveport, where he resided for over 40 years. He was retired with 24 year of service, from 1951-1975, as a U. S. District Court Clerk. Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jewel Bilbray Curtis. Survivors include two sons, Claude Curtis and his wife Debbie of Arlington, Texas, and Gary Curtis and his wife Kathy of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Janice Ammons of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Gertie Curtis, and Joella Gandy, both of Many, and Inez Fair of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Steven Curtis, Greg Curtis, Jacqueline Curtis, David Michael Curtis, Chase Curtis, and Karen Ammons of Many. He is also survived by one great grandchild, Kristin Curtis. Mr. Curtis was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Steven Curtis, Greg Curtis, M. H. Wright, Percy Curtis, Dan Albritton, and Lonnie R. Curtis.
