With that thought in mind, Emmitt Burien Crittenden, a life long resident of Sabine Parish, was laid to rest Saturday, following a brief illness with cancer. His funeral was held in Alford Heights Baptist Church, followed by burial in Pine Knot Cemetery. Mr. Crittenden, a retired salesman at Warmack Motor Co., where he worked for 19 years, died Feb. 24, 1983, at P and S Hospital in Shreveport, where he was admitted on Feb. 19, his 73rd birthday. He was well known throughout much of Sabine Parish, and was an avid sportsman, spending countless hours hunting the woods, and fishing the streams and ponds in the area. Aside from being a person who would not deny a hand of friendship to anyone in need of help, Mr. Crittenden was also a loving family man, with an even stronger love for the Lord. He was active in his church life, and was a charter member of Alford Heights Baptist Church. It was his unselfish attitude and concern for others, that may best be remembered by his many relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ethelene Crittenden of Many, Also two sons, Bernice Wayne, his wife Gayla, and children Robert Wayne, Sherman Wade, and Romona Jeanne, all of Zwolle, and Charles William, his wife Vickie, and daughters, Heather Dawn, and Christy Denise, all of Keithville. Also three daughters, Mrs. Betty Grimes, her husband George, and daughters Alison Alayn, Amy Lynn, and Bethany Claire, all of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Mrs. Martha Lynn Anderson, her husband Jimmy Don, and children, Donna Lynn, and William Shane, all of Shreveport, and Mrs. Norma Beth Guillory, her husband Kenneth, and children Christopher Michael, and Jennifer Lynn, all of the U. S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Other survivors include two brothers, Lyman, and Johnny Crittenden of Many; and two sisters, Mrs. Daisey Lewing of Fisher, and Mrs. Cassie Harper of Many; and a host of nieces and nephews. Officiating the funeral were Bro. Earl Marr, and Bro. A. J. Dupree, former pastors of Alford Heights Baptist Church, and long time friends of the deceased, and Rev. Don Hagar, pastor of Carson Baptist Church, Zwolle. Pallbearers were James Hendrickson, Bruce Hendrickson, Bryan Hendrickson, Robert Anderson, Randy Dowden, Dean Crittenden, Cling Anderson, and Benny Isgitt.
