Mr. Carter was a truck driver. He was a member of Kisatchie Masonic Lodge #156 and served as a Mason for over 37 years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many with interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery in Many with Masonic graveside rites. Bro. Earl Manofficiated and Bro. Nolan C. Author assisted. Survivors include his widow, Wanda Tarpley Carter of Florien; two sons, Everest W. Carter of Gentry, Ark. and Jerry L. Carter and wife, Mary of Florien; one daughter, Betty Sue Raines and husband, Roger of Florien; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Elizabeth V. Carter Brewer; an infant son; and a brother. Pallbearers will be members of the Kisatchie Lodge.
