Jeff Carter, 63, of Negreet, died Sunday, May 13, at 11:30 a.m., after a short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, at the Mt. Ararat Church near Downsville, with the Rev. O. C. Clark officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery. Masonic graveside rites were held. He was a master mason of the lodge of Negreet. Survivors were his wife, Mrs. Myra Carter of Negreet; two sons, Jack Carter, of Mansfield, and the Rev. Paul Carter of Transylvania, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Vaslti Breaux of Cleveland, Tenn., and Mrs. Rosa Crane of Alexandria; his mother, Mrs. Ida Carter of Downsville; four brothers, Cecil N. Carter of El Paso, A. D. Carter of Bossier City, Bennie Joe Carter of West Monroe, and S. T. Carter of Shreveport; one sister, Mrs. Dovie Brantley of Downsville, and 11 grandchildren.
