Carroll Jr., 72, were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 29, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Phillip Smith, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Park West. Military honors were observed. Mr. Carroll died Tuesday, March 26, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, following a short illness. He was born in Many, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 40 years. He was a retired engineer for South Central Bell, and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member of the V.F.W., Queensboro Masonic Lodge, and Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees. He is survived by his wife, Rentie A. Carroll of Shreveport; two sons, Calvin Douglas Carroll of Houston, Texas, and Charles Dixon Carroll of Shreveport; one daughter, Sue Lynn Sayers of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Edna Salley of Many, Sue Lynn Hendricks of Shreveport, and Laverne Rivers of Westlake; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Agnes Marie Denmon. Pallbearers were H. M. Bonner, Ed Clark, Robert T. Fox, Robert C. Williams, T. W. Urban, and Joe Barbee.
