Cook. He was identified as Malcolm Corley. Sheriff Cook said Corley and Vance Mondello, 17, also of Henderson, were about a mile or a mile and a half from Pilcher's Point, in a 14 ft aluminum boat, with a 6 h.p. motor. The motor hit a snag, and knocked it loose from the boat, and at the same time, a big wave turned the boat over. The two youths started to swim, in an attempt to catch their life jackets, but the wind blew the jackets away. Mondello saw he couldn't swim with his clothes on, and pulled everything off but his shorts. He tied his jacket on a snag, and started swimming from tree to tree, headed for the bank. The last time he saw Corley, he was hanging on a log, begging Mondello not to try to make the swim. Mondello swam about a mile, and got to the opening between the wooded area and the bank. He yelled, and some people who were about to go fishing, heard and rescued him. He was taken to Fraser Hospital by ambulance. The fishermen then went to where the accident happened, but could not find Corley. The Sheriff's Office received the call at 10:30, and immediately sent a boat and divers to the spot. They recovered the motor in 35 to 40 feet of water. The boat and gas can were also recovered. Sheriff Cook said dragging operations and diving have gone on every day, to no avail. He said his men will stay on the job until the body is recovered.
