Carnline of Many, died in the vicinity of Quany Tin in the Republic of Viet Nam Wednesday, May 3. He sustained a gunshot wound in the neck from rifle fire, while on an operation. Carnline was with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, A Co., Weapons. He had been in Viet Nam about nine months. Remains arrived in Shreveport by plane Thursday afternoon, May 11, and Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many picked up the body at 5:51 p.m., Thursday. The body will remain in the Monroe Carnline home until service time. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, at 1 a.m., at the Many United Pentecostal Church, with the Revs. Billy White, D. L. Spears, and H. H. Tibbitts officiating. Burial will be in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Carnline of Ft. Jesup; two brothers, Bruce Carnline of Longview, Tex., and Clinton Carnline of Ft. Jesup; two sisters, Mrs. Gwen Cook of Many, and Mrs. Martiel Schulthorpe of Many; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Zelda Hinton.
