Carpenter Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorsia L. Carpenter, 74, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Hornbeck United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. T. F. Tenney, the Rev. Mack Carpenter and the Rev Steven Lora officiating. Burial followed at Self Cemetery. Mrs. Carpenter, 74, of Hornbeck, entered into rest Monday, May 24, 2004, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Carpenter was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She and her husband have pastured the following churches during the past 51 years: Red Store United Pentecostal Church, Wardville United Pentecostal Church, Bunkie United Pentecostal Church, Del Rapids South Dakota United Pentecostal Church, Krotz Spring United Pentecostal Church, Seiper United Pentecostal Church, and Hornbeck United Pentecostal Church. She had been a member of the Hornbeck United Pentecostal Church for the past 35 years. During those years, she served the church as Ladies Auxiliary Leader, Prayer Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and was well known as the church "mother". Her church family will miss her prayers, encouraging words, and cards. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and painting. She was preceding in death by her parents, Ambrose and Pearl Roe; her brothers, James Henry and Elmer Roe; and her sister, Ruth Odell Ates. Survivors include her husband, the Rev Doyle Carpenter; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and the Rev Steven Lora, son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Carpenter, grandchildren, Melanie Lyons and Joseph, Tiffany Lora, and Michael Carpenter, all of Hornbeck; and sister, Geneva Martin of Montgomery. Pallbearers were Glen Brown, Terry Brown, David Burlison, Michael Carpenter, Joseph Lyons and Patrick Martin. The Carpenter family is deeply thankful for the loving care provided by Southwest Hospice of Louisiana and Hospice of Many. Lynn Harris, RN, Debbie LeGrange, RN, Rita Hollis, CAN and the Hospice team surrounded Mrs. Carpenter with care, love, and happiness.
