Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at Antioch Baptist Church in Florien with interment following at Antioch Cemetery. The Rev. Doug Chance officiated. Mr. DeBose attended LSU in Baton Rouge where he was a former member of the Block & Bridle Club and the LSU Livestock Judging Team. He was also a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Florien, a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Lynn Wright and husband, Darrel (Dobe) of Lafayette; one son, James Howard Debose and wife, Tammy of Carencro; mother, Gladys H. DeBose of Many; one sister, Barbara DeBose Estess of Shreveport; one brother, Rodney Hopkins of Many; five grandchildren, Timothy, Rebekah, Sharon, David and Kayne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Garland Peterson, L. R. Palmer, Jr., Gene Hubley, Jimmy Meadows, Harold Kelly and M. G. Anthony. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Wayne Hopkins and Lucien Clancy.
