The Rev. August Aamadt officiated, assisted by the Rev. Donald Lemmons. Burial was at Garden of Memory in Minden. Mr. Davis died at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 1983, at Minden Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Sabine Parish, La., and had resided in Minden since 1939. Mr. Davis was a retired saw filer, employed by the Woodard-Walker Lumber Co. He was a Mason, and a member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church. He is survived by six sons, Hoyt J. Davis of Sulphur, La., Horace W. Davis of Heflin, La., Hurshel E. Davis of Tucson, Arizona, William B. Davis, Jr. of Burns Flat, Okla., Dori W. Davis of Minden, and Jerry L. Davis of Sibley; four daughters, Lexa L. Aycock, and Clyda F. Baten of Minden, Betty J. Freeman of Springhill, La., and Frankie A. Dans of Shreveport; two sisters, Laurindia Clanon of Natchitoches, La., and Mertie Mooney of DeRidder, La.; four brothers, B. F. Davis of Florien, La., Charlie Davis of Franklin, La., L. C. Davis of Houston, Texas, and Swill Davis of Tomball, Texas; 50 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons.
