Davis was born December 27, 1912, to the late Mr. Peter Davis, and Lou Collier Davis at Negreet, La. He departed this life Saturday, August 31, 1985, at 9:20 p.m. He joined the Red Land Baptist Church at an early age, and later moved to Fisher, where he joined the St. Peter Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and a faithful member until death. He was married to Sallie Drew Davis on March 12, 1934, and to this union, six children were born. He leaves to mourn his passing, a loving wife, Mrs. Sallie Davis; four daughters, Irene Williams of Pasorma, Calif., Dorothy McGaskey of Texas City, Tex., Jennie Clark of Ayers, Mass., and Patricia Lilly of Friendswood, Tex.; two sons, Billie Davis of Texas City, and Donald E. Davis of Houston, Tex.; 28 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a mother, Mrs. Lou Davis of Many; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Bank of Many; Mrs. Birda Lee Mayes of Richmond, Calif., Mrs. Eddie Mae Williams of Oakland, Calif.; two brothers, Peter Davis of Richmond, Calif., Luther Davis of Oakland, Calif., and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
