Davis, 74, of 724 Kings Rd., Leesville, died on May 20, 1987, in Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Mr. Davis was born on Dec. 29, 1912, in Many. He was a veteran of WWII, and a member of East Leesville Baptist Church in Leesville, for 40 years. He was a deacon for 37 years. He retired from the La. State Police Department as a Lieutenant, in 1972. After retiring from the State Police Dept., he worked as a part time deputy Sheriff for the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office. He was a member of the Gideon Society for a number of years. Services were held May 22, 1987, at 2 p.m., in East Leesville Baptist Church, with the Revs. Sammy Morrow, and Carl Burris officiating. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville. Survivors were his wife, Mrs. Nettie Bush Davis of Leesville; one son, Durhl R. Davis of Winnfield; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Bruce of Leesville; two brothers, Robert Davis of Many; and Preston Davis of Houston, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Oma Smith of San Antonio, Tex.; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
