Davis, 79, were held in Franklin, La., on March 28. He passed away from cancer in Lakewood Hospital in Morgan City. Davis was born August 24, 1912, the son of the late James L. and Susie Davis of Florien. He went to school at Florien and Hornbeck. He was a Baptist, a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Masons. He was retired from the State of Louisiana, and St. Mary Parish. Davis served in World War II, seeing action in the Philippines and Japan. He held decorations and citations from American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged February 26, 1946. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Lea Daniels, and Linda Sue Daniels of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Mary L. Clanan of Natchitoches, and Myrtis Mooney of DeRidder; four step sons; and six step daughters; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; twenty four step grandchildren; and fifteen step great grandchildren. Davis was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie, Benny, Suil, and L. C. Davis; two sisters, Mentie Potter, and Princess Wynn.
