John Tilton Davis

  Funeral services for John Tilton Davis, 75, of Florien, were
held Monday, Sept. 23, 1996, at 2 p.m., at Prospect United
Methodist Church in Florien. Interment was at Prospect Cemetery,
under the direction of Les Fontaine Funeral Home.

  Mr. Davis passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, at Sabine Medical
Center, at 6:10 a.m. He was born in Gandy, March 19, 1921, to
James and Laura Davis.

  He was a WWII veteran, and retired from the USAF, with the rank
of M/Sgt. Full military services were accorded by the Barksdale
AFB Honor Guard. He was employed at Boise Cascade, following his
retirement from the Air Force.

  He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ella Groves, and
Pauline Durr; and his brothers, Cecil, Harvey, A. G., Roy, and
Clifton Davis.

  Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Lola of Florien; daughter,
Anne Richards of Charleston, South Carolina; son, John S. Davis
of Jacksonville, Fla.; stepdaughter, Joan Martin of Shreveport;
stepson, Gary Slay of Cedar Hill, Tex.; and his sister, Trudie
Corley of Slidell; grandchildren, Erica Davis of New York, N. Y.,
Ashley, and Frank Richards of Charleston, South Carolina; his
step grandchildren, Kelley Pennywell of Keithville, Candy Martin
of Shreveport, Chelsey Slay of Cedar Hill, Tex., Darrell Martin
of Keithville, Doug Slay of Cedar Hill, Tex.; his great
grandchildren, Brooke, and Kasey Pennywell of Keithville; a host
of nieces, nephews, and friends.
