Davis, prominent Many businessman, were held Wednesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. Services were held in the Many First Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. H. Bengston officiating. Burial was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Davis, 61, died Monday, April 11, at 4:05 p.m., after a short illness. Mr. Davis was born in Arkadelphia, Ark., Dec. 25, 1904. He was graduated from the Old City High School in Monroe, and held a bachelor of science degree from Louisiana College. He did his graduate work at Louisiana State University. Mr. Davis began a teaching career at the Gulfport, Miss. Military Academy. He owned and operated the Pineland Chain Saw and Honda Co. in Many. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Gillis Davis of Many; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Virginia Auten of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Margaret Eugenia Martinez of Baton Rouge; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Armstrong of Monroe; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Crawford Mitchell, Horace Tompkins, Mr. Ellzey, Noel Tipton, R. E. Patrick, Wallace DeLatin, George Branch, and Daniel DeKeyzer.
