Jessie D. Davis

  Last rites for Jessie D. Davis, age 70, who died at his home in
Florien Tuesday, May 6, was conducted at Florien Baptist Church
at 10 a.m., Friday, May 9, with Rev. John Reynaud officiating.
Interment was near Leesville, in the Lilly Cemetery, with Warren
Funeral Home in charge.

  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Jessie Davis of Florien; daughters,
Mrs. Owen Oxley of Zimmerman, Mrs. Gene Austin Miller of Bridge
City, Tex., Mrs. Conrad Corley of Wurziburg, Germany; brothers,
Lee, Arthur, and Henry Davis, all of DeRidder; sisters, Mrs. Earl
Waddell of DeRidder, Mrs. Will Day of Burkeville, Tex.; eight
grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

  Mr. Davis was born at Lilly, La., March 26, 1888. He had lived
his three score years and ten, and was active as a carpenter most
of his life. About ten years ago, he suffered a severe heart
attack, and had to retire.
