Rabbi Richard Zionts of B'Nai Zion Temple officiated, assisted by Rabbi David Lefkowitz, Rabbi Emeritus of B'Nai Temple, and Rabbi Kenneth N. White of Temple B'Nai Israel, Monroe. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery, where Masonic rites were held, under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. Mr. Dover, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dover of Florien, died at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, 1986, in Schumpert Medical Center, after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Shreveport for over 40 years. Before his retirement, Mr. Dover was president of Holicer Gas Co. He was active in the Louisiana L-P Gas Assoc., and served several terms as its president. He was a member of B'Nai Temple, and served as a president of its Brotherhood. He was past master of Shreveport Lodge No. 115 F and AM. He was a member of the Scottish and El Karubah Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Ark-La-Tex Strokers, the Petroleum Club, and was the former member of Breakfast Optimist Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Gruenberger Dover, and survived by his wife, Mrs. Annette Dover. His children and their spouses are George J. and Barbara Dover, Naomi and Jeff Scrogham., Alice and Paul Spillers, Jean Dover, Joseph D. and Barbara Dover, Amy and Howard Neistein, Dennis and Marilyn Newman, Marcia and Dudy Ashkanazy, and Louis Newman. Survivors also include 12 grandchildren; and his brother, Marion H. Dover; and sister, Marguerite Dupree, both of Shreveport. Pallbearers were Charles Collins Jr., Richard Dupree, Mark Dover, Ron Nierman, Lee Miller, and O. L. Streeter. Honorary pallbearers were James Katz, and members of the Strokers Club. The family requests donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital or Hadasseh.
