Dees James J. Dees, 95, of Shreveport, died Thursday morning, May 3, in Midway Manor Nursing Home, after a long illness. Mr. Dees was born in Pineapple, Ala., and had been a resident of Shreveport for 55 years., He was a retired cabinet maker, and a member of the Oakmont Church of God. Services were held on Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m., in Wellman Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. W. D. "Billy" Franks, pastor of Oakmont Church of God, officiating. Burial was in Jerusalem Cemetery in Many, under the direction of Wellman's Funeral Home. Survivors include three sons, Julian Dees of Houston, Texas, and George Dees, and Leonard Dees, both of Shreveport; three daughters, Lydia Brumlow of Alexandria, Edna Schumaker of Monroe, and Dorothy Cooper of Pattison, Miss.; two brothers, Bernard Dees of Vivian, and Ruben Dees of Smackover, Ark.; three sisters, Lizzie Lewing, and Pearl Hilderbrand, both of Many, and Lonnie Leggett of Smackover, Ark.; 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Cecil Dees, Carl Dees, Cecil Dees Jr., Phillip Dees., Paul Dees, and James Dees.
