All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************************************************** ************************************************************ Mr. Grover Dyess Sabine Parish recorded another traffic fatality with the death of Mr. Grover Dyess of Robeline, who was pronounced dead on arrival at a Many hospital Sunday, Feb. 25. The accident occurred south of Hodges Gardens, on Hwy. 171, about 2:20 p.m., when a 1971 Pontiac, driven by Fred Jones, who listed his address as 607 Railroad St. in Many, was attempting to pass a 1973 Cadillac, driven by Willie O. Dyess of Shreveport, as they were coming down a hill. When Jones pulled out into the left lane, a car was coming, so he cut back into the right lane, and hit the Cadillac near the rear. Mr. Grover Dyess, a passenger in the Cadillac was fatally injured, and Willie Dyess was rushed to the hospital in Shreveport, where his condition is unknown at this time. Investigating the accident were La. State Police Officers, George Gaskin, and Sherman Hicks. Jones was charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and negligent homicide.
