Bobby Gene Dykes Funeral services for the Rev. Bobby Gene Dykes, 42, of Slidell, were held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Chapel in Shreveport. The Rev. J. Ray Weidner, Secretary of the United Pentecostal Church, La. District, officiated. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park. Services were also held in Slidell at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the First Pentecostal Church, where he served as pastor. The Rev. Dykes died Sunday, Aug. 31, at approximately 3:10 p.m., near Boise, Idaho, in an accident. A native of Converse, the Rev. Dykes was a former resident of Shreveport. He served in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam veteran. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Marie Webb Dykes of Slidell; his father, the Rev. George C. Dykes of Shreveport; and two sons, Brendle Gevin Dykes, and Byron Glenn Dykes, both of Slidell. He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Doris Selmine Dykes. Pallbearers were Len Poole, Tommy Rogers, Richard Smith, Gene Owens, Gilmer Phillips, and Mike McGee. Honorary Pallbearers were the ministes of the United Pentecostal Church.
