Services were held this morning. Interment will be in Canyon City Cemetery in Canyon City. Mrs. Dukes was born May 25, 1918, in Florien, La., to Brink and Clara (Blackwell) Miller. She was the third of their nine children. As a teenager, she became a Christian and was baptized in the Sabine River near Florien. She graduated from Florien High School. She married Clifford Dukes Dec. 14, 1936, Ludington, La. She was a seamstress and, during World War II and the Korean War, sewed for the military. She also was employed as a seamstress by the Standard Department Store in De Ridder, La. Mrs. Dukes enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and being a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Clifford Dukes of John Day; daughters and sons-in-law, Delores and Robert Bagett of John Day and Jackie and James Lucht of Hillsboro; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Sheri Dukes of Klamath Falls; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Dukes. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.
