Lee Owen Deason, Sr. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2000, in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Lafayette, for the Rev. Lee Deason, Sr., 78, who died Friday, June 30 at a Lafayette hospital. The Rev. Perry Sanders officiated. Musical selections were arranged by Ramona Carmichael. Burial followed at Elizabeth Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Branch. The Rev. Deason, the son of the late Joel William Deason, Sr., and Nezzie Lee Jernigan, was a native of Dunn, but traveled throughout the State of Louisiana as a Baptist Minster. He was retired as a minister after 46 years of service to various churches throughout the state. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Marine Corps, with an honorable discharge as Private First Class. Survivors include his widow, the former Kelsey Sievers; one son, Lee Owen Deason, Jr. of El Dorado, Ark.; four daughters, Deanna Ruth Deason Dison of Spearsville, Judy (Mrs. Henry) Deason Jolly of the Plainview Community, M. Joyce Deason of Shreveport, Lydia Kelsey (Mrs. Rodney "Coonie" Deason Richard of Carencro, and Terri Sue Deason Myers of Houston, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. The Rev. Deason was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Eugene Deason; and one daughter, Wanda Lee Deason Mosher. Those who choose to do so, may make a donation in the Rev.
