All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************************************************** ************************************************************ Mrs. Judith Leach Duggan 3 Jan 1964 - Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at Warren Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Judith Leach Duggan, age 74, a resident of Grand Prarie, Texas, who passed away at her residence Thursday morning. She was a native of Sabine Parish, Florien, La., and had been a resident of Grand Prarie for the past 2 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Windham, Grand Prarie; two sons, Thurman Duggan, Grand Prarie and George Duggan, Minden, La. grandchildren, 5, 2 great grandchildren. Two brothers, Paul C. Leach, Leesville, La.; Charles Leach, Leesville, La., one sister, Mrs. S. E. Tobin, DeQueen, Ark. Pallbearers were: H. O. West, Harce Weeks, W. P. Vise, Sam Tobin, Joe Leach; three daughters, Mrs. C. L. Cousins of Dubberly, Mrs. E. K. Bennett and Mrs. J. S. Carlton of Longview, Tex.: a sister, Mrs. R. B. (Aunt Dink) Miller of Florien; and tow grandchildren: Jack Carlton, USAF of Maultrie, Ga., and Ann Carlton of Longview, Tex. Mr. Leach was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Florien, the members of which served as pallbearers and had charge of the services at the grave side. He was also a member and past patron of the Mt. Carmel chapter No. 3, OES of Florien. For many years Mr. Leach served the town as postmaster and was well-known by people of the town and surrounding communities. He was a staunch supporter of education and saw Florien High school grow from a two-room school to its present stage. He served on the local boards and committees who helped it grow. He grew up in this community, reared his family here, and was active in the work of the town. He had been an active member of Prospect Methodist church since his early years and saw it grow from a one room log church to its present modern structure. He will be greatly missed in Florien and community. Every day the Master calleth Someone to Eternal Rest. And the hearts though filled with anguish, can but say He knoweth best.
