All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************************************************** ************************************************************ Harold Ford Dixon Funeral services for Harold Ford Dixon, 61, were conducted May 2, 1995, at 11 a.m., at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many. Interment was in the Pisgah Baptist Cemetery, followed with military honors, and graveside services by the Free and Accepted Order of Masons. Military graveside services were conducted by the Sabine Parish D.A.V. Chapter 21. Mr. Dixon passed away at his home in Morenci, Ariz., April 27, following a decline in health. He was a master machinist. Harold was born in Toro, April 28, 1933. As a boy, his family moved to Ajo, Ariz., where he attended and graduated from Ajo High School in 1951. After working for Phelps Dodge in Ajo for a few years, he enlisted in 1953, in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. During his two years of service, he was stationed in West Germany, and advanced to the rank of Corporal. Following the war, Harold trained as a machinist, and has worked in Stafford, Playas, N.M., and Saudi Arabia, in mining and construction. For the last seven years he has been employed by the Phelps Dodge Corp. in Morenci, as a machinist in the mill. Harold has been active as a member of the Free and Accepted Order of Masons since 1965. He was affiliated with the Clifton American Legion, the Elks Club of Clifton, and the Greenlee Country Club. Harold was an avid catfish and trout fisherman, who enjoyed many serene days along the Blue and San Francisco Rivers. Surviving family members include his wife, Benita Dixon of Morenci; a daughter, Shannon A. Weston of Oahu, Hawaii; two sons, Victor D. Dixon of Las Cruces, and James Todd Dixon of Ft. Mead, Md.; four sisters, Fay Knight of Willard, N.M., Kathleen Carey, and Kathlynn Hyerstay, both of Lewisville, Texas, and Duretha McCardle of Picayune, Miss.; three brothers, Howard of Big Pine, Calif., J. L. Dixon of Marana, and Ivy Dixon of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as four grandchildren.
