The Sabine Index - Herbert Jean Dowden 
  
  30 Jul 1948 - Reburial rites for Pfc. Herbert Jean Dowden , age 
19, who lost his life in the Battle of the Bulge, will be at Toro 
Baptist church near Florien Saturday by Bro. Charles S. Miers, 
pastor First Baptist church, Many. Members of Veterans of Foreign 
Wars will be pallbearers. Interment will be under direction 
Massingill funeral home. 
  
  Surviving relatives include: parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Dowden; 
Hornbeck; brothers, Carl of Hornbeck, Fern of lake Charles, Roy 
of Northwestern State College, Natchitoches; Eugene of Hornbeck; 
sisters, Mrs. Lillian Cochran, Crowley, Mrs. Marnee Williams, 
Lake Charles, Miss Mary Earl Dowden, Hornbeck.
