L. J. Dowden

  L. J. Dowden of Plainview, died Monday, Oct. 5, at 12:30 p.m.,
at Beauregard General Hospital in DeRidder, due to an extended
illness. He was 58.

  Funeral services were held at Prewitts Chapel Baptist Church,
Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m., under the direction of Rev. James
Flannagan, and Rev. Glen Flanniken. Interment was at the Prewitts
Chapel Cemetery.

  Mr. Dowden is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen V. Dowden, and
Don L. Dowden, both of Anacoco, and Ronald L. Dowden, and Teddie
R. Dowden, both of Leesville; four daughters, Frances Ann Smith,
Connie L. Brooks, and Marilyn L. Merchant, all of Anacoco, and
Wanda Sue Wade of Dallas; a brother, Arnold L. Dowden of
Plainview; four sisters, Mrs. Trudie Sneed, and Mrs. Irene Cabra,
both of Plainview, and Mrs. Rowena Mitchell, and Mrs. Inez Marze,
both of Anacoco; and 16 grandchildren.
