Luke Conerly Dowden

  27 Apr 1945 - Funeral rites for Luke Conerly Dowden, age 90
years, were held 10 o'clock Monday from Plainview Baptist church.
Rev. C. W. Williams of Many, assisted by Rev. Reed of Plainview
and Rev. V. K. Fletcher of Florien officiated. Interment was in
Plainview cemetery, Massingill funeral home in charge.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Mary E. Dowden, Hornbeck; two
daughters, Mrs. F. C. Chance, Hornbeck and Mrs. F. T. Edwards,
Oak Ridge, Tenn.; four sons, G. A. Dowden, Toledo, Ore., B. F.
Dowden, Klimath Falls, Ore., S. E. Dowden, Beaumont, Texas, P. B.
Dowden, Longview, Wash.; step-daughters, Mrs. Tom J. Moore, Hugo,
Okla., Mrs. Cleo Ellzey, Florien; brother Young Dowden, Peason,
21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

  Mr. Dowden was a longtime minister of Sabine parish. He died at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. C. Chance, Hornbeck.
