All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************************************************** ************************************************************ Luke Dowden 7 Nov 1968 - Funeral services for Luke Dowden, 72, of Shreveport, who passed away at the Louisiana Nursing Home Saturday, Oct. 19, after a long illness, were held in the Holley Grove Methodist Church Monday, Oct. 21, with the Rev. Abe Conerly officiating. Mr. Dowden was a retired painter and had lived in Shreveport for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Noel Memorial Methodist Church and was an Army veteran of World War I. He was born in Natchitoches Parish and had lived in Many before moving to Shreveport. Survivors include eight sisters, Mrs. Maggie Snell and Mrs. G. F. Tarver both of Hornbeck, Miss Florence Dowden, Mrs. O. K. Harvey and Mrs. Oma Jones all of Shreveport, Mrs. Tom Logan of Eunice, Mrs. J. L. Baucum of Sweeney, Texas, and Mrs. Bonnie Hicks of Ventura, Calif., four brothers, W. E. Dowden and Cecil Dowden both of Shreveport, Dr. N. H. Dowden of Greenville, Tenn. and John Dowden of Vancouver, Wash; and a number of neices and nephews. Interment was in the Holley Grove cemetery under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
