R. Dean Services for J. R. Dean, 61, were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 14, at Joy Lutheran Church in Parker, Colorado. Mr. Dean passed away, Monday, September 11, at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. He was born March 16, 1928, at Coldwater, La., to Abner and Villa Chloe (Allen) Dean. Mr. Dean was a Geophysicist and Geologist, and he was president of the Ranch Oil Company in Denver. He was a member of the Joy Lutheran Church in Parker, the AAPG, the SPE, Rocky Mountain Pioneers, and the Masonic Lodge in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Dean was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. He was a graduate of Calvin High School, attended LSU, and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe. He was married to Helen Mae Owens on May 29, 1955, at Mattoon, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Helen; four sons, Michael, Mark, Carl, and Richard, all of Colorado; two brothers, Bill Dean of Many, and Thomas Dean of Ferriday; two sisters, Marybell Key of Many, and Edna Curtis of Many; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Dean. Mr. Dean was a dedicated family man, and a faithful church member. Memorials may be made to Joy Lutheran Church, 7051 East Parker Hills Court, Parker, Colorado, 80134. Mr. Dean was brought home to Zwolle for burial in the Zwolle Cemetery.
