The Sabine Index - Mrs. J. Y. Dempsey, Sr.

  17 Mar 1961 - DeRidder - Funeral services were held Wednesday at
10 a.m. in the First Baptist church for Mrs. J. Y. Dempsey, Sr.,
78, who died Monday in Beauregard Memorial hospital.

  The Rev. Emory Wallace officiated and burial was in Woodlawn
cemetery with Hixson's Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

  Mrs. Dempsey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Emily
McDowell, Lake Charles, Mrs. Margaret Richardson, Houston and
Mrs. Carrie Harrison, Anabauc; a son, J. Y. Dempsey, Rayen; a
brother, W. H. Brewster, Groves; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Pruitt,
Mrs. Emma Smith and Mrs. Mary McCullough, all of Toro, and Mrs.
Callie Price of Security, Texas.

  She was a native of Sabine parish and was born and reared in the
Toro community.
