All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************************************************** ************************************************************ Mrs. Addie Lee Maxie Drew (Photo) Mrs. Addie Lee Maxie Drew, 101, a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish, died October 10, 1990, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, after a short illness. Mrs. Drew was born on May 21, 1889, to Louis and Callie Maxie of the Devil's Branch community. She was married to Mr. Houston Drew of Negreet, on December 24, 1910. They were blessed with three children, Mr. Willis Drew, and Mrs. Lera Lilly, and Parlise Drew. Mrs. Drew was a devout Christian. She confessed Christ at age eleven, and remained faithful to her God and church. She attributed her long life to "living a clean life for the Lord". Her favorite Hymn was "Amazing Grace". She was honored by the local mission society on her 101st birthday. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. We shall miss her sweet smile and gentle spirit. She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted daughter, Mrs. Lera Lilly of Florien; one sister, Ms. Ressie Johnson of Florien; ten grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends. A homegoing service was held for Mrs. Drew on October 13, at Antioch Baptist Church, Negreet. Rev. D. A. Jones of Shreveport delivered the funeral oration. The following young men served as pallbearers: C. D. Drew, Robert Drew, Marion Drew, Jeff Drew, Andy Drew, and K. D. Drew.
