Rutha L. Derrick

  Services for Mrs. Rutha L. Derrick, 91, of Converse, were held
at 2 p.m., Monday, August 22, at the Union Springs Baptist Church
near Converse. The Rev. Jerry Schmucker, assisted by Rev. Murray
Lane, officiated. Burial was in the Union Springs Cemetery.

  She died Sunday morning, August 21, 1983, in Shreveport, after a
lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of Converse.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Derrick; and two
sons, Leonard, and Ralph Derrick.

  Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Edna McPhearson of Long
Beach, Calif., Mrs. Ethelene Crittenden of Many, Mrs. Nellie
Young of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Ruth Harnage of Haughton, La., and
Mrs. Laura Jackson of Shreveport, La.; 20 grandchildren; and 43
great grandchildren.

  Pallbearers were her grandsons.
